1979-83, Corgi Batmobile, black tyres, wide whizzwheels.

The first and the last one "Wide Whizzwheels"

Prototype product development..wide wheels 267 batmobile...and basically one of the last blue dash cars to be ever built...even comes in a box that packing dept made up to fit it, as there were no boxes left for a handfull of cars and no further print runs due to its demise...
All parts remaining were bunged on these cars...Good bad..busted or ugly...batcopter decals replaced the run out standard door bats..chrome was spared on the last few remaining dashes..and no Robin...also note the rare "red" headlights that Jeff Gentry will know about..
One rare batmobile..due mainly to its provenance..the other box for prototype is just a home brewed storage box...so basically the first ever wide wheels last issue car built in prototype form..and probably one of the last five or so cars to leave Fforestfach plant in around 1982ish.

Fforestfach #1 prototype build of the c267 wide whizzwheels c 1979/81 car.

Made by Mettoy ( corgi toys) product development dept to show purchasing dept, what their newly accomplished last issue Batmobile would look like!.... crudely made with lots of things not detailed or finished as there was no need..this was a test piece that deffo would of been stripped for bits if it stayed inside!!
Standard issue body with all the plastic injection moulded in black polypropylene..clear almost green clear screens..no wheel centres..grille details..and many more things like the chrome finish missing..as said there was no need to do this for a hand around visual item that for all involved would know what was coloured or chromed!!! All metal work is rough base mazak cast inc siren..towbar blade and rocket wheel...

Very rare pre production prototype for the new wide whizzwheels issue corgi batmobile...

Only about 5 were made to show what potentially the final built for sale model would sit and look like for management to pass off.
Note the cost / value of the exercise...all plastic is cast in either grey or black nylon and remained unchromed or gilded..clear screen unit to save dye costs on the 5 built...no figures...aerial..(now snapped!!) Was rigid plastic.. no wheel centres fitted..and no decals or mask sprayed headlamps..paint is rough as expected to what was probably going to be restripped anyway...
