2024 "Matt Version, without Tow Hook"" |
This model is only available with a Corgi Model Club Subscription
Corgi
was acquired in May 2008 by Hornby.
Hornby
has acquired the assets, trade and intellectual property of the Corgi Model
Club (CMC). CMC was established in 2021 as a third-party partnership with
Hornby to create and sell contemporary editions of classic Corgi models from
the archives via a monthly subscription club.
CMC can finally announce June 17th 2024 as the date when the Batmobile (gloss
version) will go on pre-sale.
If
you are a member of the Corgi Model Club we've even better news, as you qualify
for an EXCLUSIVE replica of the much sought after 'matt' black version of
Corgi 267 ~ the FIRST EVER Corgi Batmobile!
This
version of the iconic Corgi Batmobile, from 1966, was in production for just
six months and has never been reissued before. For Club members who are up
to date with their collection, the 'matt' black Batmobile will be your October
issue.
For
non Club members, the version we’ll be placing for sale in our online
shop will be a gloss black Corgi Batmobile ~ a model that was made after the
matt black one ~ from early 1967 up until 1970.
In
true Corgi Model Club style it will come in a fantastic facsimile of the original
1960s style of box, complete with fold-out display and plinth, plus envelope
with instructions, 12 missiles and a Batman lapel badge.
The
model itself is a perfect working replica of the original, with Batman and
Robin figures, gold wheels with red bats, a pop-out front chain slasher blade,
triple rocket launchers (which satisfyingly propel the missiles via the knurled
wheel) and a turbo exhaust flame that thrusts in and out.
Because of the increased costs involved in manufacturing the Batmobile ~ it
is a fully licensed model and with all the features of the original ~ the
exclusive Members only edition will be £29.99 (€35,99). The gloss
black edition from our shop ~ which will be available on a pre-order ~ will
be £39.99 (€47,95).
Common features include:
• aqua glass
• recessed nostrils in the bat nose,
• rubber tyres and gold wheel hubs with red bats,
• a "Batmobile" label on the underside of the car, a turbine
exhaust nozzle,
• a pulsating exhaust flame,
• longer tail fin tips and recessed taillights,
• silver beacon cage,
• no tow hook.
The Car is good generally, here is a few of views :
Aerial is floppy and very authentic.
Tyres perfect with correct tread lines.
Rims a bit golder maybe and less emphasis on the lines around bat.
The frame around the bat hub emblem looks thicker
Glass could be a tadd darker.
Robin
a bit too big.
Lack of bright gold around the car, with plain cast metal instead...wheels
are new..and tyres excellent.
Chrome is moulded perfectly and shines like a diamond.
The paint and non dented casting is a joy to behold, beautifully finished. with lovely clean lines, perfect suspension.
Accessories pack is what can only be described as a cheap addition really with a type 2 badge[ paper sticker not cloth] issued .
Rockets just about come out of the tubes due to poor "ping sound and effects" and sprue shape a bit off course. The rockets are a bit weird and skinny too and 1 mm longer!! With the sprue resembling the 007 lotus sets.
Info sheet is printed on instructions, again which are picture perfect..but weird off pink as opposed to purple pink.
Plinth holes are massive, and the outer box and inner plinth looking somewhat faded ?
We
all must fully appreciate, its never going to replace vintage Corgi perfection,
but its a fair attempt at a remake, and on a par with all other cmc releases
for newness and undented castings!!.
